Bio
Dr. Usman is an adjunct faculty member in the MSN program, bringing over 17 years of nursing experience with a focus on advanced primary care. He earned his Master of Science in Nursing in 2017, became a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, and completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in 2022.
Since 2018, Dr. Usman has practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner, delivering care to underserved populations at federally qualified health centers. He currently works at Kaiser Permanente and the Student Health Center at the Keck School of Medicine at USC. Earlier in his career, he accumulated a decade of experience in preoperative nursing, telemetry, intensive care units, and emergency departments.
Dr. Usman is passionate about evidence-based primary care, patient empowerment, and health education. In 2024, he was honored as a finalist for Advanced Practice Provider of the Year at Kaiser Permanente Southern California.
