Bio
Duane Carter’s journey into education was shaped by a series of meaningful experiences and a deep sense of purpose – what he describes as “meant to be.” Although he initially intended to follow in his father’s footsteps as a real estate broker and attorney, a profound moment during an education course altered his path. A professor’s words – “The greatest thing a person can do with their life is to be a teacher” – resonated so deeply that Duane committed his life to the field of education.
Over the years, Duane has taught at various levels, beginning in grade school and eventually teaching graduate students pursuing their MBAs. His long and fulfilling career has allowed him to impact students across generations and disciplines.
Outside the classroom, Duane has a deep appreciation for the arts. Through his involvement with the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Orange County, he has enjoyed countless performances—from ballets and Broadway productions to orchestral concerts. However, his favorite pastimes include traveling with his wife, especially on cruises, which he fondly calls the “perfect escape” and a cherished way to pause the demands of everyday life.
