Bio
Kate Lyons Landry is an accomplished educator and practicing representational fine artist with expertise in both traditional and contemporary media. At American University of Health Sciences, Professor Landry is dedicated to helping students develop strong visual communication skills that support learning, professional practices and patient care. Kate has worked as an art educator, internationally and locally, and published articles in Arts and Activities magazine. Professor Landry serves on the board of the Wyland Foundation and has extensive experience in Instructional Design and Instructional teaching module development. Kate is a professional member of the Association of Medical Illustrators, NAEA, and earned her Master of Fine Arts from Laguna College of Art and Design, Masters of Education, and her undergraduate degree from College of the Holy Cross. Her artistic sensibility and restrained compositional aesthetic are inspired from the natural world. Originally from Maine, Kate has a passion for the outdoors and travel. By encouraging her students to visually communicate anatomical and scientific concepts, her teaching practice fosters observation, critical thinking and creativity.
