When it comes to choosing a career path, money isn’t everything, but it certainly is a nice perk. With that in mind, there’s no better time than right now to pursue a career in pharmacy if you are looking for a lucrative job.
According to an annual report conducted by Glassdoor, pharmacist is the third highest-paying job in 2018 with an average annual income of $127,120 while pharmacy manager is the second highest-paying job in 2018 with an average annual income of $146,412. The only job to rank ahead of these two pharmacy careers was physician, which is listed as having an average annual income of $195,842.
Just as important, the job outlook for pharmacists is positive as well, with the US Department of Labor forecasting that employment of pharmacists will grow 6% from 2016 to 2026 and commenting that “increased demand for prescription medications will lead to more demand for pharmaceutical services.”
All of this data comes as great news to anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in pharmacy. Not only will a career in pharmacy allow you to better the lives of people in your community, it will also allow you to make a great deal of money in the process.
Entering into a career as either a pharmacist or a pharmacy manager will require you to earn your Doctorate in pharmacy. The most common first step to earning a Doctorate in pharmacy, though, is to earn your Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, and at AUHS we are proud to offer a high-quality pharmaceutical sciences program that will allow you to earn this degree while also enjoying all the benefits that a private, Christian university has to offer.
